Tribal Elder Ramona Peters was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award last month from the Association of Tribal Archives, Libraries, and Museums (ATALM).
ATALM is a national non-profit organization that supports tribal archives, libraries, and museums by providing culturally relevant programs and services.
Each year the organization gives out a Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual whose work has significantly contributed to the preservation and understanding of indigenous cultural heritage. Individuals should have at least fifteen years of service to the archives, library, or museum professions (in any combination).
Ramona has served the tribe in numerous capacities over her lifetime, including as the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer, Museum Director, Indian Education Instructor, NAGPRA Director, researcher, and member of the Traditional Chief’s Circle. She also currently sits as the President and Founder of the Native Land Conservancy.
Congratulations Ramona!
